case study: medical college of wisconsin

MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WISCONSIN

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a private, freestanding medical school dedicated to leadership and excellence in advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and injury through education, discovery, patient care and community engagement.

MCW's commitment to medical excellence and fostering humanity was demonstrated in its AIDS awareness campaign.

When we took on this project, we knew that we faced a great challenge. How do you get an important message out to a vast amount of people? And how do you communicate that message to people who speak different languages and have low literacy levels? This was at the heart of our challenge.

We understood that we needed to get this message out to as many people as possible and work within a limited budget. When trying to deliver this message worldwide, we knew language barriers would be problematic. We assessed the situation and did our research. We translated the message into the four most common languages spoken by our demographic - English, French, Spanish, and Russian. We used our Byte Audio technology to edit the audio and create a CD-ROM. The CD-ROM was paired with a laptop to play the CD-ROM and a book containing the audio transcript.

These AIDS awareness materials were distributed worldwide to 83 countries. Recipients were able to read the book and listen to the CD-ROM. It didn't matter how literate the audience was - the CD-ROM made it possible for everyone to increase their AIDS awareness.

This project showcased our audio production, post production and CD-ROM development capabilities. But moreover, it allowed us to show our commitment to education, betterment of humanity and our overall goal of excellence.
