Building a Brand-Forward Digital Home for Roselle Public Library
Roselle Public Library District (RPLD) is a village library district dedicated to adding value to its community by serving as a center for information, instruction, learning, leisure, and cultural opportunities. By fostering connection and curiosity, RPLD builds community around shared interests and lifelong learning.
When RPLD came to us, they had recently refreshed their brand identity and were ready to take the next step: creating a new website that would not only make their brand shine but also equip their team with the right tools to support better librarianship.

Digital Strategy
Our first step was to clarify the library’s digital content. We worked closely with their team to find the right words, organize site pages, and map out what existed—and what needed to be created. This process resulted in a synthesized content strategy document that libraries can use not only for their website but also as a guide for social media and other digital channels.

This work helped the library take stock of their current content, identify gaps, and set clear goals for developing new content. The final site map was designed to clearly communicate the library’s offerings, from materials to services, in a way that felt intuitive for users.
Extending the Brand
With a strong, well-defined brand already in place, we had a solid foundation to build on. The challenge was translating that identity into an engaging, interactive digital experience—especially finding how the brand’s colors and visual language would work cohesively across the site. Through thoughtful iterations and close collaboration with the library’s in-house designer, we arrived at a flexible, brand-forward solution.
Having an internal designer on their team gave us a unique advantage. We could lean on their expertise to create editorial-style imagery with specific criteria, allowing for more curated visuals rather than relying solely on generic photography.
Features and Experience
The new site is packed with user-focused features, including book lists, an eResources explorer, a dynamic library blog, and a robust calendar. We also created dedicated audience-specific pages for teens and kids, giving these sections their own distinct look while staying true to the overall brand. Throughout the site, custom illustrations and visual elements were woven in to add warmth, personality, and a sense of continuity.
Conclusion
The new Roselle Public Library website is more than a digital facelift—it’s a reflection of RPL’s values and ambitions. By combining a refreshed brand identity with intuitive architecture and flexible content tools, we helped create a platform that meets the needs of today’s patrons while empowering staff to grow and evolve the site over time.
